What is Reiki?

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force. Rei means universal or spiritual and Ki means life force energy, which flows in and around every living thing. This intelligent energy promotes healing by finding its way to wherever it is needed. Reiki heals on all levels; it works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

The treatment activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself, restoring balance and bringing a sense of calm and wellbeing.

Reiki does not involve massage, it involves a gentle healing touch, the energy is channeled through the practitioners hands to clear, strengthen and heal energy pathways of the body. The whole person is treated and not just isolated areas.

Can Reiki help me?

Reiki is used by people for a variety of reasons. Some use it to help them manage or cope with physical, mental or emotional problems, whilst others use it as a means of relaxation or to help maintain good health and a sense of general wellbeing.

Reiki is not a cure, as a natural form of healing reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment.

What to expect

A reiki treatment is non-intrusive and hands on, with the recipient remaining fully clothed as reiki passes through clothing and even plaster casts. Some people feel very relaxed and may even fall asleep, whilst others may talk about what they are feeling.
